Aerys vs spreadsheets
This is the real competition, and the spreadsheet is usually winning for a good reason: you built it, it does exactly what you want, and it costs nothing. We are not going to pretend otherwise. The question is not whether it prices a repaint correctly — yours probably does. It is what happens in the four places a spreadsheet structurally cannot go.
Choose spreadsheets if…
- You are the only person who needs to touch it
- You are not sending many estimates a week
- You are genuinely not losing track of quotes, hours or follow-ups
Choose Aerys if…
- A customer cannot approve a spreadsheet, or pay from one — so every quote needs a second and third step
- Your painters cannot clock into it, so actual hours are reconstructed later from memory rather than measured
- A spreadsheet never follows up on a quote nobody answered, which is where most lost work actually goes
- Rate changes have to be remembered into every future copy, instead of changed once in a catalog
If you read those four and none of them is costing you anything, keep the spreadsheet. We would rather tell you that than onboard you into something you do not need yet.
We compare on who each product is built for, not on a feature table — prices and features change, and a table that is out of date is worse than no table.
What Aerys does
Estimate from your own production rates, send a quote the customer accepts themselves — which hands them straight to the payment page — schedule the crew, and track cost against the bid while the job is running.
Questions
Is spreadsheets a bad product?
No. A spreadsheet you built yourself is often a better fit than software you do not need, and we will say so rather than sell you something.
Can I move my data across?
Yes. Importing customers, properties and your service catalog is part of onboarding.
How current is this comparison?
It compares positioning rather than feature lists or prices, because those change and a stale table would mislead you. For your own setup current pricing and features, check what you have built.
